The Ballantrae Summer Games was in full force this past week, charging forward with the motto of prevention, health, wellness and camaraderie within an established mature community. The games ran from August 19th to Sunday August 27th and kicked off with a vehicle parade, around Masters South and Masters North.
Nine days of both outdoor competitions and indoor competitions ranging from Slo Pitch, Ladder Golf, Bean Bag Toss, Slo Cycling, to Mah Jong, Cribbage, Euchre, Bridge, Timed Chess and many others followed. Each of the five condos that make up the community adopted one of the colours of the Olympic ring – Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, Purple – in a symbolic gesture to the global competition their games are patterned on.
Gold Silver Bronze medals were awarded to each condo complex every night for the previous day’s events, with The Big Red Machine aka Condo 2, being the overall winner of the 2017 Ballantrae Summer Games.
