Three more suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting in the parking lot of Pierre Berton Resource Library in Vaughan that left a high school student with a minor gunshot wound.
York Regional Police responded to reports of a shooting at the Rutherford Road library on Monday, June 3 at 1:44 p.m. but saw no immediate signs of a shooting. Emily Carr Secondary School, located nearby, was placed in a lockdown during the investigation.
Police later learned a 16-year-old boy shot during an altercation in the library parking lot had been driven to hospital with a gunshot wound. On June 5, a 17-year-old male from Vaughan was charged with accessory after the fact – attempted murder and accessory after the fact – discharge firearm with intent.
Police have since arrested Huzafah Gondal, 18, Anthony Peynado-Tremblett, 19, and Kajan Yoganathan, 18, all of Brampton. They face numerous charges, including attempted murder, discharge a firearm, party to the offence of – attempted murder, party to the offence of – discharge firearm with intent, possession of ammunition and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
