Stouffville library CEO Margaret Wallace, Mayor Iain Lovatt, members of the library board and staff members gathered recently to acknowledge support provided to the library by Flato Development CEO Shakir Rehmatullah.
Rehmatulla’s gift of $10,000 to the library made it possible to carve out a cozy nook in the library that has been christened the Flato Fireplace Lounge. The lounge, located in the south-west corner of the library, is a bright relaxing place that is one several comfortable corners in the library which is a cultural hub in town.
The contribution was clearly a point of pride for Rehmatullah who, on a walk through the library without a microphone or camera in sight, quietly exclaimed “this is a really great place” as he surveyed, not only the lounge that bears his company name but the nature-focused courtyard and the people who basked in surroundings like him.
Ward 4 Councillor Rick Upton, who helped organize the event lauded Rehmatullah’s support.
“He is a great corporate citizen who believes in promoting education, the arts and the importance of town facilities like these,” Upton said.
Like all facilities in the library, the lounge has an open invitation to residents. To see more of what the library offers, visit in person or online at www.wsplibrary.ca
