As York Regional Police (YRP) kicks off its 2018 Holiday Heroes Campaign, providing holiday cheer to families needing a helping hand is easier than ever.
The campaign runs from November 15 until December 15 and 100 per cent of donations support local families in need. Together with corporate sponsors (listed at www.yrp.ca) and community support, YRP hopes to support the thousands of thousands of families who have registered for assistance through local Salvation Army programs and Victim Services of York Region.
New this year, you can make an online donation at www.yrp.ca/hhdonate. Financial donations will be used to buy groceries and other items that are desperately needed but not commonly donated in a toy drive.
You can also drop off new unwrapped toys, new children’s clothing, gift cards, Canadian Tire money or monetary donations at YRP Headquarters in Aurora, Community Resource Centre in Richmond Hill or at any of the five District Headquarters. YRP will also be out in the community throughout the campaign accepting donations. Visit www.yrp.ca/en/community/Events-Schedule.asp for dates and locations.
Since the launch of Holiday Heroes in 2008, YRP has raised more than $1.2 million in monetary donations, new toys, new children’s clothing and food. “A special thanks to members of our community, as these goals could never have been achieved without the generosity and support from the public,” YRP says in a press release.
