Residents are invited to gather on January 13 at Civic Square to honour the lives of the three Stouffville residents killed in the flight PS752 tragedy on January 8 in Tehran.
Dr. Razgar Rahimi, his wife, Farideh Gholami, and their three-year-old son Jiwan died on Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752 on their way back from visiting family over the holidays.
“A tragedy of this nature is one that cannot be explained,” said Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt. “And while none of us know the right words to say to express our condolences to the families of all victims, especially to those who were our neighbours, by gathering together as a community to honour their lives perhaps we can all share the burden of grief together.”
A book of condolences will be available for members of the community to sign at the municipal offices located at 111 Sandiford Drive in Stouffville.
Flags at town facilities remain at half-mast until further notice in memory of all the victims of Flight PS752.
The vigil starts at 7 p.m. and takes place at Civic Square which is located in front of Nineteen on the Park at 19 Civic Ave, just south of Main Street in Stouffville.
