Driver charged in multi-vehicle collision

A 21-year-old Richmond Hill man faces charges after the vehicle he was driving collided with another car in February in Aurora, causing a chain reaction involving three more vehicles.

Milad Habibnia was charged July 9 with dangerous operation causing bodily harm and dangerous operation, York Regional Police report. On February 20, he was driving a black Mitsubishi Lancer that collided with a yellow Toyota Celica near Bloomington Sideroad and Leslie Street at about 1:50 p.m.

The driver of the Toyota, a 41-year-old man from Markham, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The passenger in the Toyota, a 36–year-old woman from Markham, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her injuries remain serious but non-life-threatening.

The driver of the Mitsubishi suffered minor injuries. One additional involved driver also suffered minor injuries. The other drivers and passengers involved were not injured. The accused is schedule to appear in court in Newmarket on August 16.
