Family of missing Vaughan man ‘miss him very much’

The search continues for a missing Vaughan man last seen leaving Mackenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill on March 21.

Simi Abrams, 24, left the Trench Street hospital on foot at about 12:30 p.m. that day, York Regional Police report. He hasn’t been in touch with family since. Police have released video surveillance (www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwCbpNuZLCs) of Abrams leaving a Walmart, where he purchased some food and other items.

Police believe he’s likely still wearing the clothing shown in the video. He is described as white, five feet, four inches tall and 140 pounds. He has long, curly dark hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a white toque with a blue stripe, dark winter coat and jeans.

His family “is missing him very much,” a YRP officer said at a March 28 press conference. “He is not in any kind of trouble…We are basically wanting to make sure we locate him and know that he is safe…We are hoping at this point that he has maybe set up a camp somewhere in a wooded area or that he has found some shelter somewhere and he is safe.”
