Flato Markham Theatre hand out performance awards

The Nylons perform at the 2018 Markham Performing Arts Awards held Sept. 18 at Flato Markham Theatre.

 On a special night, with a live soundtrack provided by legendary acapella group The Nylons who came out of retirement for one last appearance, The Flato Markham Theatre handed out its annual Performing Arts Awards. The awards celebrate those that have contributed to the performing arts in Markham through their involvement with the theatre.  

Award winners received their awards from Mayor Frank Scarpitti and were introduced by Flato Development’s Shakir Rehmatullah and received custom-designed awards from artists Cathy Mark. The winners were Sharon Mehaffey of the Dance Institute (Community Group of the Year) Maestro Kerry Stratton (Professional Artist of the Year) and Weins Canada represented by Amin Tejani (Partner of the Year).
