Horticultural society springs into action

Spring is in the air,and the Stouffville Horticultural Society has some exciting events planned for the next few months.

Celebrating Canadian Diversity by Leonard Teengs is set for March 16.

Teengs is president of Leonard’s Design Systems which specializes in all forms of creative floral design, visual merchandisng, product presentation and coordination for special events. He has taught floral design at Durham College, University of Guelph, and Seneca College.

LEAF Economic Value of Trees (Photography Show: entries submitted, member competition; Flower Show: member competition) takes place April 20.

LEAF is a non-profit organization that teaches people about trees and gets them excited about the urban forest. Activities include planting native trees in backyards, providing opportunities to participate in planting events and educating people on how to care for trees in their communities. The organization’s focus is on community engagement and tree stewardship.

Mark your calendars for May 30,and plan on attending this year’s Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to noon at Latcham Hall.

Meetings are held on the third Monday each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Latcham Hall at 8 Park Drive.
