A 27-year-old housecleaner accused of stealing more than $25,000 worth of jewellery from a client has been charged with theft.

York Regional Police launched an investigation in November after a victim — who had hired the accused through a cleaning service — reported jewellery stolen from their Vaughan home.

Investigators believe the accused stole more than $25,000 worth of jewellery during a cleaning in early October. Police say the accused also stole jewellery from other clients’ homes in York Region and Toronto.

Anett Kiss of was arrested in Toronto on January 2 and faces two counts of theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and theft under $5,000. She has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket on February 7.

Police have released an image of the accused because they believe there may be additional victims.
