How to register your child for school this summer

Returning to school in September may be the last thing most students have on their minds as summer vacation looms but the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) wants you to know it will be accepting registrations for students entering elementary school beginning July 9.

The admissions department will accept registrations for kindergarten through Grade 8 at the Board’s head office at 320 Bloomington W. in Aurora on Mondays to Thursdays, from July 9 to August 23 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Parents and/or guardians must bring the following documentation to register their child/children:

• Roman Catholic baptismal certificate (for child or parent)
• Proof of age
• Proof of status in Canada
• Proof of residency (two documents)
• Proof of English separate school support, such as a property tax bill or Municipal Property Assessment Corporation property assessment notice (school support forms can be provided, if necessary)

Children born in 2014 are eligible for junior kindergarten and those born in 2013 are eligible for senior kindergarten. Learn more about the YCDSB’s kindergarten program at All YCDSB elementary schools will be closed from July 2 to August 24.

Registrations for secondary students will take place at local Catholic high schools beginning August 20.
