Impaired driving charges in fatal collision

A Toronto man faces several impaired driving-related charges following a two-vehicle collision Aug. 19 in Richmond Hill that left a 21-year-old woman dead.

Seyed Yashar Tolouei was charged with impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing bodily harm and refuse to provide a breath sample, York Regional Police report.

At about 9:30 p.m., they responded to a collision on Bayview Avenue at Woodriver Street, involving a Toyota Camry and a Chevrolet Cruz. A passenger in the Cruz was unresponsive and died of her injuries. Her name has not been released. The 22-year-old driver of the Cruz suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

The driver of the Camry was arrested at the scene for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and transported to hospital with minor injuries. He was released from hospital, held in police custody and attended a bail hearing on Aug. 20 in Newmarket.
