The Whitchurch-Stouffville Library always has more than books on offer. June is no different but does have students in mind as they finish up their school year. This includes setting aside quiet space for serious study June 19, 20 and 21 with snacks to help the information flow.
For the age 10-16 crowd, a little fun time is in order during the Lego Mindstorm Challenge. Running Friday, June 9 and 16 from 4-6 pm, those creatively and mechanically inclined can test their engineering skills and be a big deal in the wonderful world of Lego. If you are above a certain age and only remember the interlocking square brinks, you’ll notice the new pieces are a Lego world away from those with electronics, lights and circuits we only dreamed of having.
A $6 fee per kid is all that is needed to attend both days.
Finally, for the students, the library helps celebrate the end of the school year with an after hours shebang on Friday June 30 from 4-8pm. Games, movies and, of course, very cool people can be found at the temporary library location at 175 Mostar.
For the big kids who have to work for a living, the library, in cooperation with the York Small Business Enterprise Centre, will offer free one-on-one business consultations by appointment. Get financial, set-up and best practices advice. Sessions are held at town offices at 111 Sandiford, Wednesday, June 21. Call for an appointment 1-877-464-9675 ext71584.
Finally, the popular Wednesday tech drop-in session continues from 2-5 pm. Bring your challenging hardware or software and get the help you need.
See you at the library.
