One of the more popular exhibits of the year is upon the Latcham Gallery as the first exhibition in May is set aside to show the work of the many talented student artists – Celebrations: The Young at Art.
The collection of work from 10 area public, Catholic and private schools including Stouffville Secondary runs only from May 5 to May 14. So you need to get moving if you want to see art, from what could turn out to be, early work of future masters.
Even if not the early work of masters, the creations that come from young minds are always surprising and maybe even inspirational.
May 19 marks a more traditional style of exhibition as Facetime: Contemporary Portraiture settles into the Latcham space. The collaborative installation features 10 artists or groups who deliver portraits in various mediums, representing a rich look in to the diversity of our cultures.
A special opening reception will be held Thursday May 26, from 7-9 pm at the Gallery at 6240 Main St. that will feature a number of the artists contributing to the exhibit.
As usual, the reception and exhibition is open for all and free. Visit Latcham online for details on these shows and also summer camps for kids at www.latchamgallery.ca.
