The Latcham Gallery is where you can learn about new artists and see their works in your own community. Artists from across the province, working in all kinds of media, submit their work for a chance to exhibit at the annual juried exhibition.
Artists can drop off a maximum of two recent works (2016-2018) at the gallery on March 5 between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. The entry form and complete details can be found on the gallery website at www.latchamgallery.ca. A jury of three art professionals will then have the difficult task of assessing hundreds of submissions in order to select 25 – 30 for the exhibition. This year’s jurors are Melissa Bennett, contemporary art curator at the Hamilton Art Gallery; Gary Evans, School of Design & Visual Art artist and coordinator; and Nicole Collins, OCAD University drawing and painting program artist and assistant professor.
Latcham curator, Elisa Coish, says she is looking forward to this year’s edition of the exhibition.
“The juried exhibition is not only a tremendous opportunity for artists to have their work seen and assessed by art professionals but a way for visitors to see new works and discover a variety of artists all under one roof,” she said. “Each year has something new to offer.”
The opening reception will be held from 1-3 p.m. on March 10. The artists will be in attendance and $750 in juror’s awards will be presented. The exhibition runs until April 28.
