Library reviews safety protocols after province announces details of further openings

The provincial government has given libraries the green light to offer pick-up or delivery as early as May 19 based on being able to offer the service within guidelines that ensure staff and patrons are safe.

While Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library (WSPL) appreciates that library services are highly valued by the community, WSPL is delaying an immediate launch of such services until processes and measures have been fully developed to ensure staff and community’s health and safety during these uncertain times.

“We have been actively reviewing government recommended guidelines as they are determined, and we have ordered new and necessary supplies,” said Margaret Wallace, WSPL Chief Executive Officer. “We are committed to ensuring the library reopens only when we have appropriate safety protocols. The safety of our staff and community is of upmost importance.”

Wallace and her team hope to have books available again for library patrons by mid-June.

The library continues to provide a wide range of virtual and digital services and resources.

For any questions or concerns, staff are available from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Call the library at 905-642-7323 and leave a voicemail or email [email protected]
