Man charged in murder of Richmond Hill woman

A Richmond Hill man turned himself in and has been charged with the murder of a 20-year-old woman who was killed by a gunshot wound on July 21.

Ali Nadderi, 25, was charged with second-degree murder and appeared in Newmarket court after turning himself in on July 23 at about 2:30 a.m. in the death of Alyssa Lightstone of Richmond Hill, York Regional Police report.

Lightstone was described as “beautiful, smart and young…way too young,” in a Facebook tribute by Dana Hansen. In another tribute, Brittney Meagann wrote: “You are so loved and going to be so missed.”

Police were called to an apartment at 75 Huron Heights Dr. near Davis Drive and Leslie Street on July 21 at about 7:20 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
