Man charged in Vaughan shooting also a victim

A 22-year-old Toronto man faces numerous weapons charges following a shooting in Vaughan that left him with a gunshot wound.

On Tuesday, Aug. 28 shortly after 7 p.m., York Regional Police responded to Vaughan Mills Mall following reports of apparent gunshots. Witnesses reported the suspects had fled the scene.

Police later learned a man went to hospital suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. They believe he had been involved in the earlier incident outside the mall, in which he had a firearm. He was later seen with two other men running from the area and taking off in a vehicle.

The man has been charged with weapons dangerous, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle. He was scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket on Aug. 29.
