Police release video in violent assault

Police have released video of a violent assault at a Vaughan tire shop in which a victim suffered serious injuries from which he may not fully recover.

On Monday, Aug. 20, shortly after 1 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a tire shop on Hanlan Road for a report of an assault in progress. They found two victims, one of whom was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Two unknown men entered the shop wanting to speak with one of the employees. They assaulted one of the employees, who fled out the front door of the shop. The suspects returned to the shop and assaulted the second victim, punching and kicking him multiple times and throwing a tire at his upper body.

The suspects fled on foot south on Scholes Road towards Steeles Avenue. The first suspect is described as black, five foot, seven inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black hoodie and a black bandanna on his head. The second suspect is described as black, six feet, one inch tall with a thin build. He was wearing a blue hoodie, a blue bandanna on his head and sunglasses.

Investigators have released video surveillance of the assault, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/ehwrClJ054E, but warn it contains violence and may be disturbing to some viewers.
