Police seek human trafficking victims after arrest

A 21-year-old Toronto man who fled a Richmond Hill hotel after a gun was discharged during an altercation related to human trafficking faces numerous charges and police are appealing for victims to contact them.

York Regional Police received a report about a gunshot being fired on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites on East Pearce Street at Leslie Avenue. The accused was arrested the next day in Toronto. Investigators have released his image and are appealing to anyone who may have been victimized by him to please come forward.

Christopher Howlett has been charged with numerous offences, including trafficking in persons under 18, material benefit from trafficking in persons under 18, material benefit from sexual services of a person under 18, use firearm in commission of offence, discharging firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm and assault.
