The York Regional Police (YRP) Services Board’s newest member brings 25 years of international banking experience and a commitment to community safety to the post.
“York Region is growing rapidly and our police service is an important part of ensuring the safety, health and vibrancy of our communities. Therefore, it’s my honour and pleasure to join the YRP Services Board,” says Jennifer Fang.
She was appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario for a three-year term that began June 6. Her resumé also includes cross-border investment and business management experience with multi-national-corporations, including General Motors of Canada, JP Morgan & Chase, BMO and PwC Canada.
Fang is also a director and chair of a TSX-listed mining company’s audit commitment and is a senior advisor to a TSX-listed auto-parts company on corporate development and strategy. She sits on the board of Providence Healthcare Foundation, which is part of Unity Health Toronto, the largest Catholic healthcare network in Canada.
She has also been volunteering with York Region District School Board school councils since 2010. A graduate of Peking University in China with a degree in international economics, Fang completed her MBA (finance major) at University of British Columbia.
The YRP Serves Board is a seven-member civilian board that oversees the YRP. One member is Head of Municipal Council, three members are appointed by Regional Council and three by the Lieutenant Governor.
