Artists, thinkers and innovators from Markham and across York Region came together Feb. 22 to share their talents at PechaKucha Markham, held at the Markham Public Library.
PechaKucha, the Japanese word for ‘chit chat,’ is the art of concise presentations. Presenters are invited to share their ideas in 20 slides for 20 seconds each. The Markham Public Library and Varley Art Gallery teamed up to host the event.
One dollar from each pay-what-you-want admission will go toward the Global PechaKucha Night fund in support of the more than 900 cities holding the events around the world.
PechaKucha Night was created in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network and show their work in public. The next PechaKucha Markham will be held June 7 at the Varley Art Gallery.
