From the Markham Pan Am Centre to the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, York Region is home to many urban places and spaces and wants you to take part part in a photo contest sharing the places and spaces that give you a reason to #loveyr.
The Region is holding the contest to celebrate World Cities Day on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Here’s how the contest works: between October 25 and November 12, post a photo of your favourite buildings or the bustling businesses that defines a downtown or urban area in your community to Instagram @yorkregiongovt using the hashtags #itsyourpicyr and #loveyr for the chance to win a Visa gift card.
Examples of urban places can be seen through the Region’s four urban growth centres in Markham, Newmarket, Richmond Hill and Vaughan. Photos will be used to update the York Region Official Plan. For more information, visit york.ca/itsyourpic.
The Region also wants to know what kind of place you want it to be. It’s undertaking a review of the York Region Official Plan as a component of a broader Municipal Comprehensive Review. An updated Regional Official Plan will guide the Region’s population and employment growth. We want the public to directly participate in shaping the Region’s planned community structure.
