Hakuna Matata? No worries? Well, if you are familiar with this expression, then chances are you have heard of the iconic movie, The Lion King. And if you have heard of this movie and you are looking for a beautiful, fun, uplifting and engaging musical that will literally cause the hairs on your arm to rise when you hear it, then look no further than the Songs of Pride Land musical playing at the Flato Markham Theatre.
This musical is such a treat for the senses and follows the story of The Lion King, paying tribute to the music, atmosphere and culture of Africa. Among others, it highlights the spirituality of the Lion King and celebrates all that is Africa. More specifically, the languages spoken through song are Zulu and other African dialects.
The show includes 30 singers with a 5-piece band, not to mention that animals are also incorporated and we get to see the animals in the animal kingdom come together in love and in harmony. The production at its core talks about the battle between good and evil, as well as the circle of life – important topics with important messages.
This is a great musical for the entire family and provides not only for a meaningful outing but can create rich discussions with all members of the family post-experience.
You will also have the rare treat of being able to see singers belting out songs in traditional African clothes, so that viewers can get a better idea of what the African culture not only looks but sounds like.
