Terry Fox Run celebrates 36 years of fun and hope Sept 18.

Get ready to roll (or walk or run—whatever makes you move about) for the annual Terry Fox Run, again taking over the streets of Stouffville Sunday Sept. 18.

Registration starts at noon at the Latcham Gallery and Memorial Park and the run officially starts at 1pm.  Two, five and 10 kilometre distances are available to suit your level of fitness or time schedule.

The run starts and ends on Burkholder St., just south of Memorial Park.

As has been the case for most of the last number of years, the Stouffville edition of the run is expected to be one of the most successful, typically raising well over a $100,000 and upwards to $150,000 each year.

Unlike the recent Olympics in Rio, everyone is uniting behind the same team—supporting Terry Fox’s memory.

“This is a great family friendly event because it’s non-competitive, just like Terry wanted, and is a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together in support of cancer research in Terry’s memory and the memory of everyone we’ve lost to this terrible disease,” said Stacey Fitzpatrick, the run organizer.

To date the local run has raised over $1.7 million and with the Terry Fox organization consistently ranked as one of the most efficient fundraising groups in terms of money spent on root cause (under 20 per cent of money raised goes to organization and administration) runners can rest assured that the money goes primarily Terry Fox wanted it to go—research.
