Marilou Murray has been hired as the new Leisure & Community Services director for the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.
Murray has extensive senior management experience within recreation and municipal administration. Her most recent post was at the Town of Ajax, as Strategy, Communications and Policy manager/assistant to the CAO. She also worked for the provincial government. In addition to recreation training, Murray has advanced training in marketing, strategy, business and leadership as well as training in quality management. She is an active member of Parks and Recreation Ontario and a past member of the Society of Directors of Municipal Recreation in Ontario.
“The hiring committee was impressed with her knowledge, experience and communications skills,” said hiring committee member and Ward 5 Councillor Iain Lovatt.
The position became vacant with the recent promotion of Rob Raycroft to Deputy CAO, Corporate Services.
“Council is delighted with the selection,” said hiring committee member and Ward 1 Councillor Ken Ferdinands. “Ms. Murray will be a strong addition to our management team.”
She begins her new job on Jan. 22.
