The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has fired two senior administrators.
Rob Flindall, public works director, and Mary Hall, development services director, were dismissed following a decision made by council at its Feb. 6 meeting. The moves were made on the recommendation of Roman Martiuk, town Chief Administrative Officer.
Brian Kavanagh, capital projects manager, will take over as acting director of public works. Haiqing Xu, planning deputy director, will assume responsibility for the operation of development services until a successor is chosen. Officially, town representatives say they will not comment on the changes because it is a personnel matter. Council will address filling both positions at their Feb. 20 meeting.
As the head of public works, Flindall was head of the department responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of town roads, sidewalks, streetlights, traffic signals, signage and pavement markings, boulevard trees, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, storm water management facilities, and drainage facilities.
Hall was in charge of overseeing the planning, building, development, engineering and economic development of the town’s development services department.
