A 57-year-old Vaughan man has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation in Markham.
York Regional Police (YRP) launched a sexual assault investigation in August after a women reported she had been the target of inappropriate sexual advances in the past that led her to avoid the suspect as much as possible. The previous August, the victim attended the suspect’s workplace for work-related reasons and during that visit, says he approached her when she was alone and sexually assaulted her.
A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. YRP encourages victims to report incidents of sexual assault, including historical offences. There’s no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
