Vision and development options for Markham Centre

The City of Markham held several pop-ups in 2019 across the city to find out what the community thought of Markham Centre.

Residents said they loved Markham Centre’s proximity to the Rouge River and its shops, restaurants, entertainment venues, and building design. They also said that they wished there were more parks, public gathering spaces, affordable housing, and community services.

This year, the city is embarking on the next phase of engagement. As they develop a vision and development options for the future of Markham Centre, they are encouraging you to participate further and give your input on what you want to see in your downtown.

In keeping with Public Health’s recommendation of physical distancing and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the city has adapted all in-person public engagement to online formats. So this summer, the city is holding a series of virtual interactive discussions. The first interactive discussion was held on July 28 (see the video recording below), and the next two discussions are scheduled for August 11 and August 25. All members of the public and stakeholders are welcome to participate.
