Jennifer Sy, Canada’s Top Choice Charitable Foundation founder is partnering with Rosanna Penilla-Bharucha, event chair, to host Men Of Honour – York Region, the first of its kind celebrating the valuable contribution of the men in York Region that serve our community and beyond. The inspirational event will recognize 100 men with 40 receiving an award in recognition of their service, accomplishments and achievements.
“Men of Honour was created because we need a platform to appreciate and recognize the vision, passion and dedication of the men who care to protect, build and contribute to the communities,” explained Penilla-Bharucha. “Most significantly, we are creating an example for the community to follow by showcasing who the community heroes are. We decided the best way to recognize them was by hosting an inspirational event to honour and celebrate the men of York Region.”
The event is scheduled for Nov. 17 at Le Parc in Thornhill. The evening will include a cocktail reception, a parade of 100 men, dinner and awards ceremony and live performances as well as a dance. York Region Chair Wayne Emmerson, Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti and Regional Councillor Nirmala Armstrong will serve on the judges’ panel.
Everyone is encouraged to participate and nominate someone: perhaps a father figure to fatherless, an inspirational teacher to the young, volunteers, leaders, men in uniform, healthcare providers, community helpers or business owners who support diversity and inclusion. The nomination deadline has been extended to Oct. 10.
Canada’s Top Choice Council, a non-profit organization, is looking to the York Region business community to help sponsor the event. Net proceeds will be donated toward the Scott Mission homeless and literacy programs, Give and Restore Hope Children’s Charity and Markham Thunder.
