Witnesses sought after pedestrian hit

Police are seeking witnesses following a serious collision involving a pedestrian in the City of Markham.

On Sunday, July 26, 2020 at 12:43 a.m., York Regional Police were called to the intersection of
Middlefield Road and Golden Avenue for a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a car. When
officers arrived, they found a 35-year-old man from the City of Toronto who was suffering from
life- threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains.

The driver of the vehicle who struck the pedestrian, a 66-year-old female from the City of Markham,
remained at the scene.

The investigation has revealed that the pedestrian had been lying on Middlefield Road when he was
run over by the vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who
may have dashcam footage from the area, are being asked to please come forward.
