A 36-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree murder following a house fire in Aurora.
Emergency crews were called to a home on Edward Street for a report of a fire on Saturday, July 27, shortly before 1 a.m. When York Regional Police and Central York Fire Services arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
After knocking down the fire an hour later, firefighters were able to enter the house, where they found a body believed to be an adult male. The corner attended and deemed the circumstances of the death suspicious. The name of the deceased won’t be confirmed until a post-mortem examination is complete.
Melissa Galea of Aurora was charged later that day. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7865 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Or, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com
