Members of the Greater Toronto Area’s business community, thought leaders and industry professionals are invited to learn more about emerging trends and to discuss new technologies and solutions transforming the financial technology (FinTech) industry.
About 250 people are expected to take part in the second York Region FinTech Summit. The keynote speaker is Denizhan Uykur, lead author of the World Economic Forum’s new report on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on financial services.
According to the report, a clear vision of the future financial landscape will be critical to good strategic and governance decisions as financial institutions around the world face growing competitive pressure to make major strategic investments in AI and policy makers seek to navigate the challenging regulatory and social uncertainties emerging globally.
York’s tech sector is one of the largest in Canada, employing more than 60,000 professionals at more than 4,300 technology companies. Home to the second largest Financial, Insurance and Accounting Services cluster in Ontario, the Region has more than 2,900 businesses and about 40,000 sector-related jobs. FinTech firms employ thousands of highly-skilled people who are developing new technologies, processes, products and business models to benefit global businesses and consumers, the Region reports.
The summit will be held Thursday, Nov. 8 from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Toronto Marriott Markham Conference Centre at 170 Enterprise Blvd. Visit www.yorklink.ca/york-region-fintech-summit/ to learn more, including how to register for the free event, sponsorship opportunities and a full list of speakers.
