York Region Inclusion Charter reaches important milestone

The Inclusion Charter for York Region has achieved an important and exciting milestone. Last June, Regional Council endorsed the Charter and now, just one year later, the Charter has been endorsed by all 20 Municipal Diversity and Inclusion Group (MDIG) members. By endorsing the Charter, these organizations, which include local municipalities, police services, hospitals, school boards, conservation authorities and community agencies, are demonstrating their commitment to creating welcoming and inclusive communities –  today and tomorrow.

The Inclusion Charter for York Region is a community initiative that brings together businesses, community
organizations, municipalities, police services, hospitals, school boards, conservation authorities and agencies with a common commitment to create an inclusive environment with equality for all who work, live and play in York Region. Together the organizations share the vision of York Region as a welcoming and inclusive community where diversity is celebrated and where everyone can develop to their full potential, participate freely in society and live with respect, dignity and freedom from discrimination.

Each MDIG organization has endorsed its own customized version of the Charter. To view all 20 unique Charters – or to learn more about MDIG and what they are doing to create an inclusive workplace and community – visit york.ca/inclusiveyr
