In a bid to hire nearly 150 new police constables, York Reginal Police’s (YRP) Uniform Recruiting Unit will be at area shopping malls to encourage potential candidates to submit applications.
Interested candidates will have a chance to speak face-to-face with uniform officers and recruiting representatives about the recruitment process, application requirements and career benefits on Saturday, Oct. 20 at the following times and locations:
9 a.m. to 9 p.m.: Upper Canada Mall, Newmarket
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: The Promenade, Thornhill
12 to 4 p.m.: Vaughan Mills, Vaughan
YRP plans to hire an “unprecedented number” of new members over the next several years as the number of officers eligible for retirement continues to increase and is “actively seeking” nearly 150 constables to join next year, it says in a press release.
Exceptional individuals interested in a career in policing are strongly encouraged to submit their applications. “York Region is one of the fastest-growing communities in Canada and YRP is keeping pace by actively recruiting candidates of the highest calibre to represent all our communities,” it says. “A career in policing offers a variety of exciting opportunities and unique ways to connect with the people we serve.”
